Catherine's Dream: Transforming Lives at my primary school, One book at a Time

My name is Catherine Mwangi, an alumni of Bishop Perlo Center, a primary school in Murang’a County, Kenya. I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea to support the establishment of a library at my former school.
Growing up, I often found myself yearning for the opportunity to have access to unlimited books. At the start of each academic year, we received a limited set of 3 or 4 textbooks, which we would utilize and return by year-end as we progressed to the next grade. Owning those books and completing them ahead of class instruction, brought me immense joy. I can’t help but wonder how different my life might have been if I had many more textbooks and even storybooks.
Now, as I reflect on those years, I am driven by a desire to find a way to provide the current learners with the opportunities I missed. Imagine a quiet, safe space where a child can explore the wonders of literature, where their seeds of curiosity can blossom into lifelong passions, and where dreams take flight. Picture a group of eager children huddled together on reading mats, engrossed in stories that transport them to far-off lands, introduce them to fascinating characters, and inspire them to dream big.
