RENOVATION TO OUR HOUSE

Date Published: 10/18/2023

The Congregation of Christian Brothers seeking for support to renovate and expand their religious community house in Tombura Yambio diocese in South Sudan.

Christian Brothers came to South Sudan 20 years. Brothers came in to teach on the request by the then Bishop Gassy and also initiated a community engagement initiative in response to the then little-known HIV/AIDS virus that was infecting and affecting locals in Yambio Gbudue State of the Western Equatoria Region of the Republic of South Sudan. They started a group called STAR SUPPORT GROUP and subsequent registration as CBO, the organization has grown to be a responsive and effective partner in the fight against HIV/AIDS, care, and management besides improving the livelihoods of the local communities affected and infected by the HIV/AIDS virus. The organization operates under the auspices of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio.

For many years they have stayed in an old community house that used to be for the then late Bishop. The community also acts as a hospitality place for various religious brothers, sisters and priests who connect from the remote villages of their missions to city or from the city and the airport. They rest here as they continue with their journey or those who come over to buy food stuffs and other things for their missions. the furthest is a mission by the Community of St. Paul priests 9-10 hours drive who mostly come y either when connecting to juba o if they have other errands around especially buying food stuff.

The Brothers wishes to renovate the house and expand it to accommodate more people who need accommodation especially the religious who work in other far areas of mission.
