Mind Your Mind

Date Published: 3/02/2020

Last week as I struggled to cope with feelings of overwhelm and depression I had to make the unbelievably hard decision to take a step back/postpone work commitments for a month (had some lovely things in the diary run club, speaking at a wellness event, podcast to record, plus my wonderful clients)so I can focus on my mental wellbeing.

My natural instinct is to push the feelings away and distract myself with pulling on more pressure and work to distract myself...but I'm exhausted of living in that cycle and it's time to start practicing what I preach in the Joy Project.

Often it can seem like the only options we have are black & white, all or nothing but there is middle ground and terrifying as it can seem to not be able to hold it all together it's OK. We're human being's with hurts, pains & feelings not robots and we all need to be able to show ourselves compassion. Yes there is guilt involved in cancelling plans and a fear of letting people down but your mind and your mental well being are the most important thing.

I really hope your feeling better than me right now but if your not, hang on in there, know your not alone & that it always gets darkest before the dawn.
