BDC Kids Are Back To School

Access to high quality education services and improved learning outcomes remain out of reach of the poor and vulnerable in Ghana. Primary level education is free in Ghana, however, for many village children, it is not an option. Parents are often unable to cover the costs of uniforms, textbooks, and other school-related items. As a result, many children do not attend school or go occasionally when their family can afford it, leaving many children illiterate.
The Brainpower Development Centre (BDC) supports local initiatives that focus on children and youth in Ghana. BDC aims to provide village children with a strong basic education, opening doors to further study and ultimately better employment opportunities.

The organization continues to make a huge impact in the lives of Ghanaian children, as summed up by Akos, a 10-year-old girl from Enyinase: One year ago, I could not write my name. Thanks to the tutoring of the teachers and a scholarship, I am now in class two. I am so happy, and I love school.
Medtronic donated US$1000 to this project, which provided nine students with a one-year scholarship, including their uniforms, books, transport to school, and lunches.
We are proud to share that we already have nine kids fully set in school. Geared with books, uniforms, and school bags, they are ready to continue learning and growing. This is all possible thanks to the support coming from individual sponsors like you. Still, we have 50 children on our waiting list and have set a goal to get 20 more kids to school by the end of 2023.
